RTI is not simply a checklist of implementation steps—it’s a mindset focused on ensuring that every student receives the time and support needed to succeed. This workshop is designed for school teams that have already begun implementing RTI but are still refining their processes or facing challenges. Drawing on his experience working with hundreds of schools, Mike Mattos provides practical strategies to make RTI more efficient, effective, and equitable. Successful RTI implementation requires collaboration among all staff, divided into three key groups: collaborative teacher teams, a leadership team, and an intervention team. Together, these teams take collective responsibility for the learning and success of every student.
Learning Objectives
Drive implementation using the four guiding principles.
Create a school leadership team to steer the shift to a culture of collective responsibility.
Utilize collaborative teacher teams to define essential learnings.
Create a toolbox of effective interventions.
Build a schoolwide intervention team to address complex issues such as motivation, attendance, and behavior.
Learn now to create a tiered system of supports that includes:
Tier 1: All students have access to grade-level/course-specific essential standards.
Tier 2: Additional time and support to learn essential academic and behavior standards.
Tier 3: Intensive reinforcement in universal skills.
Mike Mattos is an internationally recognized author, presenter, and practitioner who specializes in uniting teachers, administrators, and support staff to transform schools by implementing response to intervention and professional learning communities.
